Cherokee Manor is a five bedroom, six bathroom house, situated on a steeply sloped 2 acre estate lot in the prestigious suburb of Mountain Brook, Alabama. The two-story home is built on the foundations of the one-story 1950’s ranch style house originally built on the property. Retaining the foundations and original entrance drive location that winds up the English ivy covered hillside, allowed for the preservation of the site’s grand old southern magnolias, hemlocks and other hardwood trees that are part of the legacy of the area. The exterior details of the home draw from the area’s turn-of-the-century mansions, including half-timber construction, smooth faced brick with raked joints, roof overhangs with ornate wood brackets and casement windows. The front doors are reclaimed, circa 1880, English oak doors. The centerpiece of the home’s interior is a 1-1/2 story keeping room with a vaulted ceiling, exposed wood beams, stacked stone fireplace and open plan kitchen. The master bathroom feature a heated floor, and the house is equipped with a state-of-the-art home entertainment system.
