After creating his own firm and managing it for almost 30 years, Bruce led his firm in a merger with Poole & Company Architects in late 2023. Bruce’s architectural career has been centered in Birmingham, with scores of projects completed in a seven-state area. Much of Bruce’s work focused on seven higher education campuses, with projects as varied as the University of Alabama’s SupeStore and Starbuck’s on Paul Bryant Drive; the Hill Student Center and the Technology Innovation Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham; and two student housing developments at the University of West Alabama. His projects also included commercial office buildings and multifamily developments, of which he completed over 12,000 dwelling units. As Senior Project Manager, Bruce leads Poole & Company’s Quality Assurance / Quality Control processes.

Bruce enjoys spending time with family (especially his grandson!) and active involvement in Briarwood Presbyterian Church. He’s also a perennial volunteer in the American Institute of Architects and was recently awarded the AIA Alabama Gold Medal for his multi-focused service.
